Abdominal pain can be sudden and severe, throbbing and relentless, or progressively worsening. When you experience abdominal pain or gastrointestinal pain that interrupts your life, Advance ER is here to help. We are proud to announce the addition of a team of board-certified gastroenterologists to our revolutionary SPECIALIST NOWSM program.

I have abdominal pain, what should I do?

“If you have abdominal pain or gastrointestinal problems that are severe or nonstop, if you have terrible heartburn that’s out of control, or if you are experiencing any other kinds of pain, come to Advance ER right away,” said Advance ER physician Dr. Ronnie Shalev. “It could be a serious condition and we would want to evaluate you immediately.”

How do I know if I need a specialist?

At Advance ER, we have fast-tracked access to specialists through our groundbreaking SPECIALIST NOWSMservice. Whenever you, or your Advance ER board-certified physician, determine that a consultation with a specialist would be beneficial, you can be talking within minutes to that specialist.* If a gastroenterologist would be able to help diagnose your abdominal pain, then a call would be placed to an available specialist.

“Advance ER’s SPECIALIST NOW program is really quite amazing,” said Dr. Shalev. “It’s virtually unheard of to have such fast and easy access to a specialist at no additional office fee from that specialist. It adds a dimension to the care we are able to provide that goes well beyond the norm.”

What does a gastroenterologist do?

A physician specializing in diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases and conditions in the abdominal region is called a gastroenterologist. Abdominal pain can be one of the hardest conditions to diagnose since it could be any of a wide number of possibilities. A gastroenterologist knows the diagnostics involved in determining the cause of the pain.

What kinds of tests may be run to diagnose my stomach ache?

Depending on the severity and location of your abdominal pain or gastrointestinal pain, your physician may need to perform an ultrasound, colonoscopy, endoscopy or CT scan. A complete exam will be performed to aid in diagnosing and treating your condition.
