Streamlined Access to Behavioral Health Services

In a bold move, Dallas’ Advance ER is now offering fast access* to behavioral health services through our groundbreaking SPECIALIST NOW consultation services. This program is powered by a highly innovative system that allows for a sophisticated matrix of care to take place on-site at one of Advance ER’s two convenient locations.

“In an effort to increase access to a range of behavioral health services, we’re pleased to add a specialist in this arena,” said Advance ER’s Director of SPECIALIST NOW Dr. Michael Chiang. “Now patients who are struggling with anxiety, depression or addictions can have fast access to the right specialist for their needs.”

Expanding on success

With the growing success of the SPECIALIST NOW program, Advance ER has been planning to expand the service lines into other medical fields. “With each new specialty we add, we’re able to offer better service, faster,” said Dr. Chiang. “It has always been our goal to find the most innovative methods to provide a spectrum of care, and this is one unique area in which we’ve focused a lot of development.”

Fast access is key

When patients struggle with mental health issues, having fast access to the right specialist can be pivotal in helping them on the road to healing. “It really makes sense to add a board certified behavioral health practitioner to our stellar lineup of specialists,” said Dr. Chiang. “If the issue is suffering from mental health challenges, that patient can’t wait. He or she needs fast access to a top-quality specialist and we’re going to do everything we can to help.”

Setting the bar high

In a time when technology offers so many life-changing advancements, many hospital emergency rooms are still grinding along with the same protocols and processes that were used decades ago. Advance ER is committed to exploring new avenues for extraordinary patient care, and our highly successful, technology-based SPECIALIST NOWSM program is just one way that emergency medical care has evolved.

“In an urgent situation, having a face-to-face consultation with a psychologist at Advance ER via SPECIALIST NOW  can be vital to a person’s health and well-being,” said Dr. Chiang.

How can I use this SPECIALIST NOW program?

When you come to Advance ER, in either the Park Cities or the Galleria Area location, you will be examined by a board-certified physician with an average of 15 years of experience. Together, you and your physician may decide that a SPECIALIST NOWSM consultation would be beneficial.

You, or your physician at Advance ER, may request a behavioral health specialist to assist with your care. After your consultation is completed, your physician at Advance ER will follow up with any prescriptions or recommended treatment. Additional appointments may be scheduled with a mental health practitioner or a therapist. Your Advance ER physician will help you with those steps.

How much does it cost?

“One of the best parts of the program is the cost. There’s no additional charge from the office of the specialist,” said Dr. Chiang. “We just want to see you feeling better and able to cope with life. So don’t hesitate to come in if you are feeling bad, having dark or uncontrollable thoughts, or are just thinking you need help. We’re here 24/7 for you.”
