February brings a season of hearts, handwritten notes, and small gestures that speak loudly. This year, Advance ER is happily stepping into the role of Cupid for Texas veterans, turning Valentine’s Day into a moment of gratitude rather than just a day of chocolates and roses. Through the statewide Valentines for Vets initiative led by the Texas Veterans Land Board, local communities were encouraged to create Valentine cards for veterans living in state homes, and Advance ER is honored to help carry those messages forward.

Some heroes once carried courage instead of Cupid’s arrows, yet they deserve to feel remembered on a day built around love and connection. Many veterans in long-term care facilities are far from family or spending the holiday quietly. A single card can brighten their day, stir a meaningful memory, or simply remind them that their service continues to matter to the community they protected.

A Community Valentine That Travels Further Than Flowers

This campaign transforms a familiar holiday into a meaningful act of gratitude. Cards can be funny, heartfelt, patriotic, or sweet. They can be decorated with hearts, stars, or simple encouraging words. What matters most is the feeling behind them. Every card becomes a small gesture of appreciation for someone who once gave so much.

Advance ER collected cards at both Dallas locations. Our teams have already taken part by creating their own cards and encouraging others to join. Families have dropped off stacks of handmade Valentines. Children have contributed drawings filled with color and imagination. It is a reminder that kindness becomes even more powerful when a community comes together.

Sometimes the best Valentine is not chocolate. It is a note that says, “You are remembered.”

Why These Cards Truly Matter

For some veterans, Valentine’s Day can feel quiet. A card from a stranger can change that. A cheerful design can lift the mood in a room. A simple message can brighten a morning. These cards carry connection and warmth into places where the days can sometimes feel routine.

They also show veterans that their sacrifices are not overlooked. Many served far from home, and some are now spending their later years away from family. Receiving a card can remind them that their courage continues to inspire gratitude and respect.

How You Can Take Part

The Dallas community dropped off Valentine cards at our two locations throughout the campaign period. Cards were handmade or store-bought, and the messages were positive, kind, and thoughtful. Once collected, our team coordinated delivery, so that every card will reach a veteran in a participating state home.

This small effort can create a large wave of appreciation. It is a chance to send love to those who once stood guard to protect ours.

A Valentine Worth Sending

Valentine’s Day celebrates connection. This year, that connection extends to the men and women who served with strength and courage. Advance ER is honored to help share heartfelt messages with veterans across Texas.

Every card delivered reminds a veteran that their service is valued and their story is held close to heart. To participate in future events, visit either location or contact us at (214) 494-8222.
