As autumn settles across North Texas, October brings a familiar rhythm to our city. Local school schedules hit their stride, neighborhood sports are in full swing, and families begin looking forward to seasonal traditions.

At Advance ER, while our team delivers 24/7 emergency care inside our centers in the Galleria Area and Park Cities, our commitment to North Texas extends well past our treatment rooms. We view local healthcare as an active, daily partnership with the neighborhoods we serve.

This fall, our physicians and team members are stepping into the community across Dallas in several key ways.

Hands-On Care: The Austin Street Center Foot Care Clinic

For individuals experiencing homelessness, daily survival often takes priority over routine healthcare. Yet unaddressed foot issues can quickly develop into severe mobility challenges or serious infections.

To help meet this need, our clinical staff partnered with the Rotary Club of Park Cities, Baylor nursing students, and local volunteers for the annual Foot Care Clinic at Austin Street Center late last month. Together, our team conducted foot evaluations and circulation checks while treating blisters and minor injuries. Beyond direct clinical care, we contributed socks, shampoo, and conditioner to help assemble care packages for shelter residents.

Serving at Austin Street Center reinforces a core value across our practice: compassionate healthcare begins by treating every person with dignity and meeting them right where they are.

Fall Traditions: Community Partners of Dallas at NorthPark Center

Throughout October, families across Dallas look forward to visiting the annual Pumpkin Patch presented by Community Partners of Dallas at NorthPark Center. Running through the entire month, this festive installation in Center Park offers a space for children and parents to celebrate the season while raising awareness and funding for neglected and abused children across North Texas.

Advance ER is proud to support this meaningful autumn tradition alongside local families.

Backing this initiative aligns naturally with our mission to protect and uplift local youth. Whether providing comfort items during crisis situations or supporting seasonal community gatherings, we stand alongside organizations that bring stability and hope to young lives in our city.

Music & Advocacy: The World’s Largest Polio Walk on October 24th

Global health initiatives start with dedicated grassroots efforts. On October 24th, our team is partnering with the Rotary Club of Park Cities to host the World’s Largest Polio Walk, an annual gathering organized to support the global eradication of poliomyelitis.

This year's event holds special meaning for our practice family:

  • Live musical performance. Dr. Pettit and his group, The Rust Band, will take the stage live to perform for walkers, volunteers, and supporters.
  • Keynote health presentation. Dr. Pettit will also speak directly to attendees, sharing insights on the medical history of polio, the success of global vaccination efforts, and why continued vigilance remains vital today.
  • Rotary international collaboration. The event connects closely with the broader mission of Rotary International, uniting local business leaders and healthcare professionals in a shared health cause.

Combining live entertainment with medical education creates an engaging environment for raising awareness. We invite all North Texas families to join us to walk, enjoy the music, and support a world free of polio.

Leadership in Action: The Rotary Club of Park Cities

The spirit of service that drives our daily medical work is closely tied to the foundational principle of Rotary International: Service Above Self. It represents a commitment to ethical leadership, active community involvement, and addressing pressing human needs both locally and globally.

Our clinical leadership stays deeply engaged with these values, supporting local literacy programs, youth leadership development, and community support projects across Dallas.

At the end of October, Dr. Alan will deliver a featured address at the Rotary Club of Park Cities. As both a local physician and active community advocate, he will speak on the vital role healthcare leadership plays in strengthening our local neighborhoods and supporting the broader mission of Rotary across North Texas.

Connecting Community Presence to Emergency Readiness

For every doctor, nurse, and team member at Advance ER, community engagement and emergency care go hand in hand. Understanding the unique needs of our neighborhoods helps us build stronger health safety nets across Dallas, whether we are serving at local events or providing round-the-clock emergency medical support.
